Enjoy the simple yet flavorful taste of the Tawilis at home! A much-loved fish in Batangas, this fish has been gaining popularity due to its good taste. It’s a delicacy in Batangas and has been the main ingredient in famous dishes such as the sinaing na pinais na Tawilis. 

Here’s a recipe for this mouth-watering dish:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 kg fish, cleaned and gutted
  • 1 pack sinigang mix (tamarind soup base)
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 tomatoes, quartered
  • 1 radish, sliced
  • 1 eggplant, sliced
  • 1 okra, sliced
  • 2-3 pieces green chili pepper
  • 1 liter water
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Heat the cooking oil in a pot and sauté the onion and tomatoes until softened.
  2. Add the water and bring it to a boil.
  3. Add the sinigang mix and stir well to dissolve.
  4. Add the fish, radish, eggplant, and green chili pepper.
  5. Let the soup simmer for around 10-15 minutes or until the vegetables are cooked.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve hot with steamed rice and enjoy your delicious Sinigang!
